January 2018 Recap - Memphis, TN Photographer

Hello my lovely humans, happy February! We are a month and a week into this year already! January got off to a rocky start as my whole family got the flu (ugh!) but thankfully recovered. Then my child's school was closed for an entire week because of the snow and ice. So basically I was a hermit for two weeks. But that gave me time to work on my plans for 2018! It's funny, although January is typically slower work wise, I always have an amazing project that falls into my lap every year! So I'd like to share about that and some other cool happenings:

First I worked with my all time favorite agent, Suzanne Culpepper, of Mike Murphy Realtors on this immaculate house in Germantown, TN:

Lauren's Personal Branding Session

This year I'm incorporating Personal Branding Photography into my business, and was beyond happy that my friend Lauren decided to partake in it! Lauren is developing a blog devoted to self improvement/care. Her mission statement:

"To talk and connect openly about life, learning and the connection between them so that we can improve ourselves personally and professionally...and go out into the world as confident, sparkly mermaids who don't take no sh*t."

For her session we captured the different aspects of her life in the comfort of her home. As you can see, she's definitely vivacious, fun and outgoing, but she's also mindful, spiritual and reflective. I'm thrilled with the way this session came out! Thank you Lauren for working with RJI! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us! Check her out: www.laurendwarren.com

A giveaway!

What's the Prize? A lucky winner will recieve a free 10 image real estate session and a basket of RJI swag and other goodies ($200 value)!

How do I enter? Between now and March 31st, book a real estate session or refer a friend who books a real estate session! Get additional entries by leaving a comment on this blog post or sharing it on social media!

Good luck!

One Little Word 2018- Memphis TN Photographer

Happy New Year Friends! Welcome 2018!

It is that time again! Where I share with you my one little word, a word that is used to define the year ahead and is reflective of something you want to accomplish, change, improve or become. The past few years I've chosen words like voice, deliberate, cultivate, will, courage. Strong words that made me want to take action. But this year I knew would be a horse of a different color.

My OLW for 2018 is CLEAR.

Normally my words come to me easily but 2018's was being stubborn; once it surfaced I knew it was spot on. I need to clear out the old to make way for the new. As I put away my Christmas decor this weekend, I realized that this was the first holiday in years where I intentionally slowed down, took it all in, enjoyed the moment. It was lovely, and I thought why not carry this into every aspect of life? Clear out old ways of doing things. Old mindsets. Old habits.

Professionally, I'm adopting the same premise. With now a decade under my belt as a business owner (as of today!) I've made changes over the years certainly, but this year I am revilatizing everything in order to make way for this new era.

In 2018, I plan to be more kind, patient, present, transparent, aware and un-apologetically myself. I plan to clear up my diet, my relationships, my mind and my office (I'm so excited to hold consults here this year!)

I hope you all have a wonderfully blessed and happy new year!

xoxo

Becca

Rocking Along to 2018 - Memphis, TN Photographer

Ten Years Later....

2018 marks my TENTH YEAR as a business owner! And while I'm not exactly where I thought I would be I've definitely come leaps and bounds from when I started. There were a few years where I was only doing this part time, then had several life-altering events that put my plans the backburner for a moment (namely, becoming a mother and almost losing my father in the same year.) I've seen many folks come and go in 10 years, having to give up their dream, and not just within the photography business. Being a business owner is HARD y'all.  So I will forever appreciate being able to own a business that has managed to thrive year after year. It's a humbling experience. That is why I am always expressing my gratitude to my clients and supporters, without them I wouldn't have made it this far!

Not to brag, but the thing I'm most proud of is the fact that even if I had low moments, I never gave up! This as definitely been a lesson in fortitude, integrity, dedication and most of all faith.

My plan for next year is to keep on rockin' along. But there are other plans to share with you as well!

Without further ado, here's what you can expect in 2018:

  • NEW PRICING- Clients will have a choice of packages - digital, print + product or a la cart- to choose from during their ordering appointment post-session. There will be a session fee due up front that acts as a retainer. I'm also adding new real estate packages for smaller homes and multi-listing.
  • NEW POLICIES- Everyone will have to sign and acknowledge receipt of my contracts and disclosures before we can proceed to session, you'll receive copies for your records. All my real estate clients must provide a copy of my disclosures to their sellers if the property is occupied at the time of session.
  • IMPROVED DESIGN - My website will be updated and I will provide my clients with a welcome packet that will explain the process of working with RJI. Booking sessions will be even easier and seamless.
  • OFFICE SCHEDULE- Office hours are Tuesday-Friday 9am-6pm. Sessions are held by appointment only Tuesday-Sunday. Mondays my office will be closed in order to catch up on editing, office work, etc. No sessions will be scheduled on Mondays.
  • BETTER CONNECTION- My #1 goal is to communicate and connect better with my clients. They are so precious to me, they deserve more. I'm also making a concentrated effort to network and socialize more with other entrepreneurs, because it's so easy for me to become a hermit.
  • SESSION UPDATES- My sessions offered are as follows - primarily Portraits (Families, Children, Seniors, Couples) and Real Estate; Headshots; Editorial & Advertising. Sessions not offered are events, weddings & boudoir.

A Note of Thanks

Thank you to everyone who did a mini session with me this year! You were absolutely an honor to work with! I'm thankful to have new clients and repeats- you're all a blessing.

Special thanks to the following folks and companies who made this a fantastic year!

Toes in the sand - Memphis, TN Photographer

Last week, I went on a trip to St. Petersburg, Florida with my family to celebrate mine and my husband's ten year anniversary. It was an amazing experience and I loved seeing my son have the time of his life! We went to the beach ALOT, visited Disney World and ate at some amazing restaurants. We even went on a dolphin boat tour! This was the moment my son saw the ocean for the first time, and he did not hesitate to jump right in!

One afternoon we visited beautiful Northshore Beach with my stepdaughter and grandbabies (yes I'm a grandma!) Staring out at the ocean, I was able to clear my head for the first time in a while. And suddenly, all the things that I was having trouble sorting out began falling into place, both personally and professionally. It's amazing how going to the beach seems to clear your head! Ideas began flooding in and I decided when I came back I would share with you some of them.

January 1, 2018 will be my TENTH year as a business and with it will bring about more changes that will make my life easier and my client's experience with me even better! While I can't share all the details yet, I will share a couple of things that you can expect:

  • Site Redesign - I will be fine tuning my website, making it easier to navigate and book sessions.

  • New Packages - I will be adding new products, options and custom orders.

  • Step into my office - Clients will be able to have one on one meetings, consults and ordering sessions in the privacy of my home office!

  • Home Studio - My dream of having a studio space in my home for headshots is alive and well! Piece by piece it's coming into formation.

There's much more to this so please be patient with me as I get my ducks in a row!

Party of Five - The M Family At- Home Lifestyle Session (Memphis, TN Photographer)

The M Family has a special place in my heart, I've done many a session for them over the past few years. They are the sweetest people you'll ever meet! This year was a doozy for them as the not only decided to move back home from Nashville but they were becoming a party of FIVE! Introducing Myles! Here he is just two weeks new:

To commemorate, they wanted an at home session. I am falling deeper in love with at home sessions and their intimacy and comfort. It's not only easier for the parents but it gives the kids the freedom to be themselves, which is all they want anyway!

Here's sweet Kylee being the best big sister ever, something she's quite accustomed to:

Ryder is new to the big brother scene but he took right to it like a champ! He was very protective of his little bro, making sure to never get too far away:

Thank you M family for allowing me to capture your beautiful family of five!
