We are two shakes away from Autumn, which makes me incredibly happy, being that a) it will be cooler, b) I'm a white girl in yoga pants and c) pumpkin spice latte time! But it also means Fall Sessions will be in full swing! I'll be sharing the details next week.
I haven't posted much the past several months intentionally as I was engulfed in both personal and professional obligations. I also needed a break to clear my mind and rediscover my passion for my art.
But today... I want to get candid! If y'all don't mind, I wanted to get a little personal on here as I share some photos from this summer:
This is my two year old son Gabe, whom you may have seen here and there on my blog and such. He's my favorite subject to capture! We have spent this summer making sure he's having a blast and able to experience as much as possible!
Whitten Park isn't that far from Memphis, it's actually just outside of Tupelo. We were very impressed with the place - we're full fledged camping snobs at this point! It was clean, the employees were friendly and there was plenty to do. If I hadn't been so worried about Gabe falling in the water, I probably could have spent all day out on this pier! Gorgeous!
At the Whitten Center is a small museum area, but mostly this place is used to host large and small events, such as business meetings, weddings and family reunions. I'd love to be able to shoot some gorgeous portraits here some time!
We took a couple of trips to the zoo, one of our favorite past times.
In June, I opened a new leg of my business called Open House Photography. This was my first official tour as OHP, click on the image to view the tour. I'm proud of my new venture and looking forward to what it may have in store! I offer real estate and commercial photography services. 41:10, however, is still very much open for business!
Getting back to nature
Here's another home I shot but it was being occupied by some birds. Sorry, it's not on the market right now! It's actually a part of my neighbor's yard, which I will also save for another day because it's a pretty remarkable space, I wanted to dedicate an entire post to it. Let's just say, this place was like salve on the soul.....
We spent a great deal of time outside, since the weather has been pretty nice so far this year, very grateful!
Slump to Saved
Confession time, I was having a little slump at the beginning of this year, as I'm sure most people have, when it came to my business. One of my friends called it the seven year itch as this is going on my seventh year, which I'm not sure that metaphor particularly applies since it refers to marriage. Although, being a business owner is alot like being in a committed relationship. Rapidly approaching the 10 year mark since putting myself out there gives me a sense of pride and determination. There are so many local businesses who have shut their doors due to economic factors, especially the last few years. That's why I am so dedicated to seeing them succeed! It's a struggle between not giving up on your dream and suffering through reality, every day. Today though, I am glad I've weathered all my storms and am thankful for my triumphs.
Here are two sessions that I had over the summer that reminded me how much I love what I do!
This is the third year I've done Rogan's birthday photos! He's a delight and so handsome! Its been wonderful watching him grow...
Wilson was a pleasure to work with! She's starting her senior year this year and I see great things in this young lady's future. She's not afraid to be who she is, and I love that! We had a great time chatting while we did her shoot at the Collierville Square. Good luck, Wilson!
Thank you for stopping by my blog and letting me share with all of you. I'm humbled by the wonderful support of my friends, family and clients who continue to bless me on a daily basis. I'm looking forward to the fall!
